McInerny is WNBL Defensive Player of the Year

Dandenong Rangers forward Emily McInerny has been named the 2007/08 Australian Defence Force Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) Robyn Maher Defensive Player of the Year.

It is the 9th time the 184cm world champion Australian Defence Force Opal has won the award, including five in the past five seasons.

The Robyn Maher Defensive Player of the Year award is determined through votes cast by head coaches at the conclusion of each match.

As I was reading that I too was thinking the award should be renamed. I know I am going to get hammered for saying this..... But isn't there a better defencer out there than McInerny? She is a great defender but 9 nine times?
