Did anyone see inside cover of Sports section in the West today (Thursday 14/5/2009). it says NBA in crisis and then refers to something bout Bevo. The article is completely about the NBL and clearly a typo.
MEMO TO WEST AUSTRALIAN- NBA IS NOT IN CRISIS- YOUR JOURNALISTS ARE!!! Seriously- what a basic error.

Dude it was just typo - granted it was the banner styled heading, but by reading the first sentence it was clear that it was a NBL article.
And besides, 80%* of the population call our league the NBA anyway.

And Ross Lewis, (who is the Boti equivalent in the West) is a good baskeball journalist, and knows his stuff.
Goes to show where we sit in the australian sporting landscape. We have some work to do.....
I can see his editor now..'Why don't you toddle off and put together a story about that basketball stuff that's happening....whats it called? the NBA??'
Agreed it is very unprofessional, but in terms of where we sit, who do we think we are?

It was probably the sub-editor not the author. It ran on all News Ltd sites i saw it on the Herald Sun.

It's not a typo, the letter L is no where near the letter A on a keyboard. It was a mistake. But that's half the problem, people's indifference and ignorance about the national league, you'd NEVER see the AFL referred to as the NFL or the AFC in a newspaper.
