Well that is good news for the women's program...Two excellent coaches in the right spots...

and a sad day for SAC who have done better than very well with their man at the institute

Dean is a very good coach but I believe his personality got several people (players and administrators) off side.
He shouldn't have any trouble getting another gig.

It is a real shame that Dean Kinsman did not continue in the AIS role, he clearly was the best candidate and BA made a rare good right choice to have him replace Phil in that role. That said, Phil is absolutely unique in his "fit" for the role and there is not another coach, male , female or journalist on the planet who could compete against him for the AIS job. Just really unfortunate for Dean that Phil did not stay away for longer so he could get the same 6-8 years to adjust to the AIS situation and mold the program . Phil had many years as assistant there even before he took the head role so it is not surprising that Dean needed more time. Good for basketball, an undeserved kick in the guts for Dean.

How is Dean "clearly the best Candidate"?
What are you basing that on? His results and clear lack of quality communication skills are a big reason why he should not have been re-signed and I for one am certainly glad Brown has returned to the position.
Not sure what the flock of S.A. Country girls will do now. They might actually have to earn their spots, as Boti suggested in today's article.

Dean was a victim of his own lack of leaderhsip with the group. BA could not have continued for another four years with the behavioural problems in that group. Trying to sweep them under the carpet and keep them in-house as minor backfired when they kept escalating and got out of control. Not all Dean's problem as a unique set of girl's with no self-discipline but he is coach and the buck stops with him.
Good coach who would do well with an older group/team more willing to take a reasonable degree of self-monitoring onboard.
Will be interesting how this underlying tension effects the Gems program.

Calling Dean a 'victim' is pushing it a little..
It's his fault those specific athletes are there having the 'behavioural problems' that they seem to have. If Dean can't pick a cohesive team then thats his fault, he's no victim.
Let's hope Brown doesn't make Kinsmans mistake and select athletes without taking any real insight into their personalities and how they will mesh with other athletes.

True 'victim' wasnt the right word. He picked the incorrect people and he had opportunities to take a stand and set the scene and he didnt so that certainly would have been against him. Hindsight is wonderful but he only had to remove one or two players and it would have been enough of a warning to the rest to pull their fingers out.
Hopefully Brown comes in and sets the new culture straight away.

Dean suffered from a 'ruralitis SA' disease and refused to be vaccinated against it.

Dean's a great coach and will get another position somewhere else, when does the new coach start?

680, If that's the case, SASI will be for country kids only then!
