SEABL - Women's Player of the Week - Round 17

Familiar name for Lightning, Sturt & South supporters is this weeks Women's Player of the Week.
"DEANNA SMITH - Nunawading "Toscani's" Spectres

Averaging 34.5 pts, 10.5 rebs and 3.5 ass, Deanna Smith receives her first Player of the Week recognition in only her fourth week of competition, after joining Nunawading late into the season. Smith helped Nunawading to a 1-1 weekend, with victory over NW Tasmania.

Smith started the weekend in blistering form with 39pts@54%, 11rebs and 3ass against NW Tasmania on Friday evening. Deanna was at her dominating best in the second half, scoring 28pts in the second half and finished the game scoring 16 of her teams 20 fourth quarter points. The following night in Launceston, Deanna recorded 30pts@44%, 10rebs, 4ass and 5stls. Smith started the game with 16 first quarter points, and then finished the game with 12pts in the last quarter.

Deanna has returned to Australia after a sensational season in England playing for Manchester Magic averaging 30+ points and being quoted as "probably the best player in the league" by a league official.

why is she not back here!

great player and personality

record free throws - 65/65 straight!

although she is a victorian native - ? ballarat

so who will she suit for in WNBL???

Deanna is a great player but sorry
'best player in the league' wouldn't be hard the English comp isn't that strong.

Name the last time you saw a English team or Great Britain basketball team (other than wheelchair) at an olympic games/world championships of any age group.
