Also, this post game award ceremony is one of the stangest things I've seen.

NBL making it up as they go along... No consistency in the refs or this Award debarcle.. Some all star 5 getting a presentation others not. Wilbekin looked very uncomfortable and probably thinking this is a little wierd...

Referees were fine tonight. NZ are just way too good

I agree, the refs served up their usual tripe but there were no extraordinary clangers.

Its a bit embarrassing that Australia haven't won their own national league for 4 of the last 5 year... Lolz

Referee inconsistency over the season is what I was referring to.
Only 1 All Star 5 Australian
NZ will continue to dominate with the youth coming through and their size strength and physicality.
Be wary of Asian leagues. Ask Liz Cambage if she would ever go back to China.
Agree with season change but to allow more Aussies to play Euro and return here each year. Wilson and Carter seem to manage though with their off season.

Players won't do Aus and Europe like that, a full season in Europe is an 8-10 month commitment. Best bet to get players doing both is finishing current season early and allowing players to pick up short-term Euro or Latin American deals.

The post-game presentation was terribly awkward and downright bizzare.

Agreed macdub.
Would have been less akward had Cairns won.

I worry that in Game 2 in New Zealand Cairns will forget to play defence without someone loudly and coarsely reminding them every two seconds over a microphone for the entire game.

About 4900 from memory? That was capacity though: the whole game completely sold out in 90 minutes once non-members tix went on sale. A bunch of us from work pooled our money together and convinced someone from admin to go down there at 7:30 and stand in a line outside Taipans HQ and buy about 35 tickets. If you just rocked up when it opened you had no chance from what i heard.
Understand the lack of interest from other supporters, but it was in total contrast to the mood in town on Friday. Half the businesses in the CBD had balloons and posters up, there was a real buzz going on. Just a shame they lost really or the whole town would've been partying all the way through the weekend.

So the entire country of New Zealand can put a basketball team together that is better than a small rural Australian town. Sounds about right.
