I thought Japan's coach played some of the bench guys too much (blooding some younger guys), but this was always gonna be a big ask given the size difference and rebounding differential that played out. Japan would gave beaten PHI on Friday had they played like this. At best they are the 2nd best team in the group (if they get their act together), they SHOULD be the 3rd team, but there's a lot of basketball to be played. Coach Lamas has been with them less than 6 months so there's a lot of scope for improvement - above what they have already clearly shown.

How is it a D team? It's certainly not an A team, but our stocks are not so deep that we have 15-20 guys between our dream Boomers squad and these players. And I'm not counting all the young projects that are unproven but get frequently talked up on here - used to happen with Humphries all the time, and he's hardly dominating for Sydney. Nor Exum who's had a shaky start as a pro.

Goulding, Newley, Creek, etc would likely be in a Boomers second team, I would've thought.

Imo, not one player in this B team will make the 2020 Tokyo squad.

Only a couple maybe for the 2019 World Cup.

Should be obvious to people by now that NBA, NCAA and Europe based players won't be available for these kind of games .
Our path to qualify for world cup is an easy one.
Its more a mix of B and C level team and for some of them it's still a chance to represent Australia we should be proud of them.

And yes Manu I can see Exum heading to Europe at some point.

Exum has had the worst luck with injuries, just when he was starting to make an impact, he just needs his luck to turn and he will be fine in the NBA.

Exum can't play in top Euro competition as a PG. It is a relatively slow grinding mind game which would suit players like 76'ers McConnell very well for example. May be a SG if he improves his shot.
