Trice is the word. If so they would have to be pushing on faves for title surely???

Boti knows the name, maybe it's a new face.
Would love Trice, fit in Joeys system well.

Don't know that its one to be too excited about, personally

It's not Trice.
The player has the initials AD. Previously played for Joey......

AD would be my worst nightmare for an import PG...cheap or not, will turn fans and players away.

Sounding similar to recruiting an aged Ebi Ere a few seasons ago if true.

If it is Deleon you 6ers can kiss your title hopes goodbye. He's the NBL version of Monta Ellis, looks good at times but nothing about his game is condusive to winning.

We weren't going to be contenders anyway with the loss of Creek but this would be a bit of a kick in the guts with shades of the disappointing Ebi Ere season all over again.

No... this must be a joke. No way a contender is going to get 2Hard2Guard.

LOL imagine if someone posting BS was all it took for a thread to be removed tho

Maybe Sixers requested it? Annoyed that it leaked. Hmm probably not.

The DeLeon one sounded like BS. Not Trice. But who knows?

I posted it, It was removed as the Sixers requested it be removed as the contract has not been signed it has been agreed upon and Cairns are after Trice as well and are prepared to throw more money at him.

Makes sense #562, that's what I thought. Interesting that Cairns are suitors.

The import stifler who couldn't coach him has gone that's why.

I deleted the troll post about Trice. No contact from the club (no one from there has contacted me for years).
Wasn't much of a Deleon fan at the Hawks. Maybe money is seriously tight.

Trice isn't coming to the 36ers.
Money is tight hence the Creek debacle

Shano76

Is Deleon the player, Isaac? If so it is going to be a long season.

Money isn't tight Lol. Money hasn't been this good for the Sixers ever. They are spending close to 1.5 million this year. Trice is coming.

When they have to borrow money so they can operate....then money is tight.

To be honest, i do kind of, maybe, suspect some sort of a collaborative beat up by people in the know here for whatever reason. Maybe there is a reason why this needs to be kept on the hush? I don't know.
If it is the case though that money is this tight, it does strike me as odd that they need to revisit a past import from a different time who is well into his thirties. You don't need to do that if you can only go budget. There's so many ways to pluck a diamond in the rough besides that. But if it is the case, so be it & welcome AD.
Also, am i right in saying that Adelaide attended the Summer League as per usual with the intention of scouting imports? It doesn't strike me as a seriously cash strapped kind of behaviour given what the likely cost of the trip is for the club. Wiley wouldn't be cheap either.
On that too, I've been surprised at the low level of hype for Wiley. It didn't seem that long ago that an NBL team signing an import who had played 5 NBA games the previous season, was enough to strike high levels of excitement in team supporters & intimidation into opposition. Import standards have obviously gone up since that time. But with NBA time & top European league experience under his belt, coupled with the rumour that he was in Melbourne's sights, it does strike me as a pretty significant get and worthy of more optimism.
I could be wrong about this suspicion obviously, but something seems a little funny about the import pg scenario...

Red

i agree with you that Wiley is an excellent signing that seems to have gone under the radar.

Probably because of all the Kings big money signings making the rest seem more underwhelming?

I'll believe Sydney are this unbeatable force when i see it. I don't think they've learnt anything on why balance is more iimportant that loading up. It is an impressive roster obviously. I think Melbourne learnt that last year with the way they constructed their bench.
It's interesting how until last year all the teams everyone declared unbeatable were the one's anchored the bottom of the table while teams like Adelaide and Wollongong have done so well again most expectations.Perth are always Perth. Same for NZ. But it took United a few years to get it right.
We seem to say this every year with Sydney. If Gaze can make it work, look out for sure! But I'm not convinced by them. Sounds crazy i know.

It's not crazy. Both Gaze and JvG are not good at their roles. Plus they have signed old players who will be susceptible to injury. Get the popcorn out!

Master Chief,
last year everyone said Melb were loaded and they ended up winning the title.
So im not sure what your point is?

Master Chief
Years ago
Red, yes they got it right last year and were talented at the same time, which i mentioned.
My point was that simply recruiting the best player you can to look the best doesn't always automatically equate to success predicted in pre season hype.
Does that help you at all?

AD

Fairly typical, when trolls want to try to start a rumour, and all they can think of is the handful of players that have previously played in the league.
If Joey goes for a PG (which I do think is likely) it could be anyone of dozens, if not hundreds, of guys.
I don't think money is especially tight, as somebody said they've spent more since the new ownership, but neither are they Sydney, Melbourne, or even Perth. Already got a good squad, and will likely be looking for a solid addition rather than a superstar.

Im standing by my Deleon mail. It may not happen but they've 100% reached out to him.

The fact Joey or the Sixers even contacted Deleon is bad enough.

Wow, that is a super budget signing if so. Sixers must be desperate cash wise.

After reading the article from the 36ers, 3 spots left and no mention of Teys.
Maybe import pg, Wiley and Kendall Stephens?

I wouldn't mind Deleon if the Sixers get a good Aussie instead of Teys.

hmmmm what if it was so they could afford Motum? No Pg for a stacked frontcourt

Melbourne Boy
Years ago
Deleon is the wrong type of budget pg if you have a loaded front court. There are a ton of undersized pg imports playing in second tier European competitions who aren't earning the big bucks because they are just solid players running their team, think a better version of Jarrod Kenney.

Highly unlikely motum will be the 3rd player. Not enough minutes in the front court.
I'm still expecting a trice/Adams type of pg. if it was Deleon boti would have said something smart ass in his latest article

Tornado
Years ago
Wiley is a done deal so that only leaves 2 spots, 1 of which is Teys. This leaves 1 spot to fill.
I highly doubt Motum will be returning to the 36ers this season.

It's 100% not motum. He just signed a new deal in Europe

Hogwash
Years ago
Not sure why the delay in announcing Teys. Perth did the same with Hire just keeping us in suspense with these big names.

Isaac
Years ago
I'm guessing they bled money last year and the purse strings have tightened. Why else would you do anything but offer Creek a solid contract when you could've secured arguably the top Australian player to have another serious crack at the championship? Then play this awkward we're-due-a-transfer-fee card.

LoveBroker
Years ago
That sucks I was hoping Motum would join.
With Motum we could give Sydney a real challenge.

AD
Years ago
I would imagine with Teys they are possibly still negotiating terms.
As Captain, he's possibly asking for more than minimum and a 2~3 year deal, whereas the sixers are possibly waiting to see the final shape of the squad and how much money is left.
It could also be that they have agreed, and are keeping the announcement up their sleeve for an optimum time.
Has he by any chance been nominated for the Young South Australian of the Year award? LOL
