Yeah, its a little weird.
A bit like Sydney in the NBL, Auckland has struggled at times to maintain a presence in the NZBL.
In the glory days they had two teams, but over the past decade a couple of different franchises have tried and failed. With the last, a resurrection of the Rangers, being kicked out last year.

I can only assume that the people behind the Huskies, excluded from LK's plans for Tassie, have lowered their sights to an NZNBL team.

But its still weird that you would try to relaunch a failed Tasmanian experiment in Auckland.

Maybe the league was just desperate for someone to make up the numbers for what's left of the season and this was a low-cost solution???
