Mango leaving Hawks

According to the NBL, "Mangok Mathiang has departed the Illawarra Hawks for the remainder of NBL23, with the 30-year-old centre allowed to take up a playing opportunity overseas."

Hawks say they are supportive of the opportunity and have elevated DP Lachie Dent to full status and Harry Morris as an injury replacement for Frazier.

Leaves Hawks short at the Bigs. Maybe Akoldah will get more minutes?

It rubs me the wrong way when guys take off once teams are out of contention, but he wasn't really getting the minutes he probably expected to get and really didn't have the impact the Hawks probably expected of him either - both sides were probably fine with shaking hands and moving on.

He was playing well at the end of the season, both sides were happy with his progress back from injury, it's just when a good contract that runs for months after the NBL season comes up, clubs that are out of the playoff race are usually good enough to say "go grab it".
