To be fair Bolden shoved him and the incompetent refs didn't see it. If the refs did their job and called the foul on Bolden when it happened, Trez probably doesn’t react.

This is the paucity of the NBL. In the NBA both Trez and Bolden would've been ejected immediately, not that Bolden deserved to be, but the NBL refs know they can't throw Trez out so play on. Just makes the NBL look so amateur.

Total danger game and yes Harrell for all his ability is a bone head at times. PJC will go where the money is but some guards don't get the calls other do, PJC get belted every game game and they call nothing yet a big bangs a big on a back down and flop and it’s a foul.

I think it is more the fact Bolden embrassed him, and that could have easily turned into anything without any difficulty at all. Trez did run at him to make reasonable contact in retaliation.

I wouldn't call Bolden did a shove Trez was off-balance so when Bolden bodied him it knocked him off balance and then he had to come in and be a tough guy to save face.

What the hell was he even talking so much to smack to Bolden for anyway, Jonah's nothing to worry about. Trez just gets too amped up and can't control himself, he wouldn't last five minutes in Europe.

It would just be frustrating because that is how Trez got suspended last time, and once the fuse goes, anything can happen from there. His challange is to control his reactions without stifling himself at the same time. I think Trez was just embrassed rather than outraged, and then he didn't really move Bolden at all..

MC, I tend to agree re the Breakers giving up. When Lopez isn't dominating (or even trying to), then that says enough. Working hard, but lacking the intensity or determination from the start of the season.

Hoopie, yeah, but I don't even mean it as a criticsim, just as the result of a long and demoralising season. Pretty normal.

I think a large part of it is Trez is unfit. He didn't play at all last season and NBA is easier on the body up and down having a jog much less physical than the NBL where you're expected to play both ends.

Trez is often hunched over stuffed after a few trips up and down the floor, he takes any chance to get a breather.

I wouldn't mind us bringing Cadee back next season. I'm sure he will get 1 year deals elsewhere but even if we have to give him a 2 year deal I would be up for it. I like the way he's acquitted himself since coming here been accepting of his bench role and given steady play and veteran leadership. Plus if the starting PG goes down he could fill in there for a bit.

Yea, Cadee would be fine as a backup again I think. Seems like a good team guy to have around as well.

For those interested, Davis has won more games than Cotton this season, 23p, 13a and chuck in 5r today. Now you would think winning certainly goes into the award if you don't like stats.

If those arguing for Cotton are using games won as an argument that falls down as BC has been involved in 11 Wildcat wins and KD has been involved in 13 wins.

Add in the fact he's a better passer, a better defender and better rebounder and there's a very strong argument for KD especially if Adelaide make the 6.

Exactly what I have been saying Rat10, Cotton had a very good season but not as good as Davis, again imo.

I think it's nice we have a season with such a hotly contested MVP debate, and 2 susperstar candidates both with exceptional cases for the award

Glad that "danger" game is out of the way and Sixers finally back up to .500. Nice percentage boost too. Still a slim chance we could catch Perth but I think we would need to win all 3, including one in Perth, and they would need to lose all three. We're now a full game and % ahead of Tassie.

Defended Harrell fully in the Melbourne fracas, but should have at least been techd in the first quarter. Runs at Bolden who mainly avoided him, loses balance and falls over. Refs didn't even call it a foul originally. Then Harrell comes running in and instigates a confrontation, suddenly Bolden gets a foul and Harrell just gets the same.

As for Cotton/Davis, imagine if Adelaide had beaten Perth in their 3 games in their direct matchup, Davis would have 6 more wins than Cotton. Cotton has been at another level this year, and it's still most valuable player, not best individual stats or wins, although they are part of it.

MC, I harbour hopes that we can continue with Davis, Humphries, DJV, Dech, Mayern long term with Wells.

But all that is predicated on resembling at a minimum a half functioning club and not becoming a powder keg that implodes bi-annually.

I don't think Davis has clean hands in this seasons schtick, so the anxiety is valid IMO.

I hope that maturity and learning can prevail and these guys put their best foot forward from now on, and then perhaps Adelaide would only need to make a few offseason tweaks instead of blowing things up yet again.

KET, that sounds like a good plan providing the club can find some stability. I agree that Davis could be an issue for those reasons, but it also sounds like he is not alone in taking issue to whatever Wells was doing to rub players the wrong way. He doesn't strike me as a bad or selfish team mate, the fans love him, he still has lots to learn and improve on, and is supposedly interested in a long term stay. These are the sort of imports that Adelaide love to embrace, and we haven't really had one since Randle. If his downside was more like the other Randall, then you'd obviously have to be a bit wiser in seeing through that, but on the current evidence, his good should massively outweigh any bad, provided he can keep learning. The fact that there appears to be some kind of mediation and peace within the team right now shows that he is not completely set in his way, and might have the capacity to work with Wells. And hopefully Wells is learning and getting some help with people management skills so it doesn't come down to repacing another coach in order to please a player.

Sometimes people in positions of power, in this case Wells got say, it's my way or the highway, it’s a team sport, you all have to go in the same direction and Wells seems to achieved that. If Davis and Harrell both wanted to come back on good deals, not stupid you would be mad not to do it. Sixers fans look like they love them both. Wells got this side to play finals with one more win, when was the last time.

Davis can play. Without him, Sixers are near the wooden spoon (even with Harrell).

However, Cotton is still the MVP. He has had some epic games and will genuinely compete for the title.

I am over Harrell. He has a power game I usually love. I also usually love the swagger. But the flexing on making a routine layup, the flopping, and the acting tough over nothing is getting old fast. I thought he was very lucky that he didn't get tech’s for running after Bolden. Soft call on Bolden too, he simply bumped the cutter.

Breakers need to send Tacko packing and replace Mooney too, otherwise can keep the same team. Mooney shows in spurts he’s got some real quality but his handle is way too loose for an import guard in this league.

EssenX, I don't like it either, but I guess we have to also remember that as an ambassador of the league, there is probably some expectation for him to be a bit of a showman and a bit controversial. Maybe. Not sure.

It's not impossible that Harrell comes back again, but the real question is at what cost? I would not be surprised at all if Harell is up ther with Cooks in terms of salary, that's just my guess though. If Harrell demands massive money like that, then do you put that money into somebody/something else?

Nearly all Cooks wage is in the marquee column. It really makes it hard to balance the books with an import on that level or even stay close. A lot depends on Martin, he has got slightly better but overall been no where near his best, you take Harrell ahead of him in spite of his antics, then go back to two marquee players.

Well, I can't imagine Harrell is here for much less than that, and I dare say that Adelaide/The NBL probably had to get creative to keep him here for the season. Even if not on the books, he would have outside deals. That's in the context of this season.

If the Sixers have designs on re-signing KD then we won't Trez it would be way too much money tied up in just two players. The only reason we have both this season is because KD has likely come cheap from the G-League. He would probably be looking at $800k+ in Europe next season.

I'm not as enamoured with KD as a lot are but if we bring him back, on the huge pay rise he will get, I would be alright with us bringing Martin back on a big pay cut. He was a star at Sydney so no doubt got paid reasonably big by us this season but his stock has now plumeted dramatically.

If there is even interest in Martin again from NBL teams he will need to take a cheap deal to improve his stock at his age his career is on the precipice. And that was the original plan for this season anyway just two imports KD & Martin, Trez was only signed initially as a temp injury replacement for Martin.

Jarell aside from still being a bit overweight looks massively down on confidence and needs to go somewhere like a Cairns or perhaps us to get big court time to get his confidence back.

I wouldn't say that Davis would be cheap. Weston put a lot into him.

I do feel for Martin, he does seem to be lacking in confidence or a clear role, and has been placed on the shelf a bit. Got to remember that he's a big guy coming off two serious lower body injuries (I think?), and is in his 30s. It would be hard for him to get back to his previous level sadly.

Ninnis said he was cheap because we were trying to land a big fish at PF (Cheatham/Martin). Ninnis was recruting him at NBA Summer League. G-League pays peanuts KD has never played in the NBA this is his first gig overseas to build his stock.

I agree on Martin I was trying to be positive but at his age and size he should really be making plans for post-playing career mow. He might only have 2-3 years left in lower leagues in Europe ahead of him.

I think he still has lots to offer though. The good thing about Martin is he doesn't have a massive ego or anything like that, so he is prepared to play a role. I have no doubt he would have glimpses of his best when given proper opportuntiy. I am open to this whole roster returning.

Yeah I like Martin a lot a real quiet unassuming guy who won't rock the boat. I like that about him at the Kings he was third fiddle behind Adams & Cooks then DJV was forth fiddle.

Probably too late for him this season to show something but I do hope he gets another opportunity in the NBL, preferrably with us next season. It's a very difficult life for imports they often retire earlier than local players because the next gen imports push them out and one bad injury, like Martin had last season in Turkey, can derail their whole career especially at his age.

At least he played a few years in the NBA, played in the EuroLeague, won a championship in Israel and was a significant player on an NBL championship team. I think he averaged 18 & 11 in that GF series against Tassie in 2022.

Yea, G-League players make like $40K a year unless they're on a two-way contract, then they make half of the NBA minimum (so about $500K).

Hard to make a career playing ball in the G-League, you basically play there to be seen, but after Davis didn't get picked up after a summer league stint with the Blazers it didn't make a ton of sense for him to go around again with Santa Cruz.

If Martin can continue to get fitter and drop another 5 kilos he would be very handy as a third import. Genuine size, soft touch, good handle and can play in a team structure. He's actually a very good fit next to Humpheries to space the floor.

Martin can certainly play the old Daniel Johnson role. In recent weeks he seems to be moving a bit more so fitness improving. Worth considering keeping as the third import coming off the bench. Team really needs a good Australian backup big who can spell Humphries or cover if he is in foul trouble.

That is one area that needs filling to balance out the team.

Do we think we could keep the same side and just flip Trez for Waardenburg?

Have an import slot available just in case, and perhaps able to withstand the financial hit of paying Davis more?

I would probably try and add a 3rd import either a Marcus Lee type or a SF/PF who is not crazy expensive like Wieskamp, and keep Rassmussen as a DP for another year, do a multi year deal where he can earn a full roster spot in a year or 2 when Cadee retires, a bit like Tassie did with McDonald.
