Firstly 55 points is the record? I find that hard to believe.

This will set off another round of NBL talking heads talking up Jack's NBL chances even though he's been tried at 3 different teams.

They do the same shit with Tom Wilson another one from the Tigers cult. When United signed him Olgun racked off the list of his former junior NT teammates and said if United/Vickerman unlock his potential he could be a star in the NBL, obviously forgetting he was tried and failed by Gaze/Vick at the Kings.

I think the Sixers got sucked in by a bit of all that when we signed Jack Purchase, he's not NBL standard. Perth tore up his 2 year deal a year early after us too.

With regard to Wilson, yes he was not NBL standard (mostly defensively) in his stint with the Kings. However, to be fair, he was wet behind the ears at that point. Will be interesting to see how this current stint goes (particularly with training against Goulding and Ili every day).

Something you could see Pepper eclipsing this season, possibly next week against bottom of the ladder Cougars

The SEABL/NBL1 South scoring record is 86 points by Kevin Catron.

Here is a flashback article on Ron Nunnelly's 85 point game in his SEABL debut game, which fell just short of the record.

Disappointing that SEABL records don't apply here.

Maybe technically. But if a league that existed before with most of its original teams, does that "record" apply just because of a rebranding of that league.
And I remember Nunnely being a scoring machine, just never stopped or slowed down no matter the score.

Joe Cook-Green had 55 in an NBL1 West game a couple of years ago, from memory.

If we are talking about Western Australian records, let's not forget Paul Snoopy Graham, later of the Atlanta Hawks. Pulled this out from Aussie Hoopla:

"In his final game for the Giants, he scored a league record-equalling 82 points in a 155-134 win over the Willetton Tigers. Graham connected on 34/51 shot attempts (67%), 11/11 free throws and remarkably just 3 made shots from behind the arc. The game made front-page news in the local newspaper."

David Johnson had 69 against Bulleen in an elimination final in 1988. I was at the game & he torched us!

@ PW, haha that is an odd source of pride for me!

@ orbit, keeping it on the east coast, American import Fred Herzog (Canberra Cannons, Gold Coast Rollers) hit 106 points in an ACT State League game, including 67 points in the second half. This was after he'd just been released by the Cannons.

From Bendigo alone:

DAVID JOHNSON - 94 games, 47.8 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2.8 apg. Statistics say it all for the man known as ''DJ". Johnson set countless scoring records in his SEABL career, but his most famous achievement came in the 1988 championship game against Bulleen. He scorched the Boomers for a staggering 70 points as the Braves won 121-118. Six times he scored more than 60 points in a game, including a career high 71 in June, 1988. He was the Wizard of the Wigwam as he helped put the Braves on the map in Australian basketball.

STEVE DE LAVEAGA - 168 games, 34.7 ppg, 4.9rpg, 3.0apg. As far as pure shooting is concerned, De Laveaga had few equals. Through the mid to late 1990’s he was the premier perimeter shooter in the SEABL. De Laveaga’s amazing work ethic and desire to succeed matched his on-court skills. He remains the Braves leading point scorer with 5836 in his 168 games. His career-high 69-point haul in July, 1995, sits third on the club’s single-game record list.
