Jono Hansford is a very good skills trainer in SE Melb who does camps for that age group

Can we not keep promoting leachers who profit off of kids in this way.

Really don't like coaches that put content on Instagram. Invariably they show a shot if a kid missing, then say something, and miraculously the kid hits the shot ... all because of the great tip but it is tough to see what’s changed.

I wonder what kids used to do before social media and all these player skill coaches appeared? Most seem to be ex players making a living from the dreams of parents wanting their kids making the NBA.
Oh, that's right, kids used to go to a court and practiced often by themselves. Not paying gurus that advertise on here and pump themselves up spouting rubbish of how much a 10 year old will learn by using fancy terms.
Or going to camps like Dyson Daniels where he'll just have a chat at the start then "visit" the stations.

in all fairness - these people have a business and the same way our workplaces wish to promote themselves they can too.

The difference is in who's responsible for whether the kid improves or not.

Years ago, kids knew that it was on their shoulders if they wanted to be good, and they went out and had to work their butts off if they wanted to be good.

These days, they can pay someone else to tell them what to do and if they don’t succeed then they have someone else to blame. "Teflon kids". (Shouldn’t knock it, I suppose, as there’s a prime role model as US president.)

AMB BASKETBALL is very good and is based in the southeast suburbs. Michael is the guy who does the classes, he is a coach for the Casey Cavaliers. He is really good at foot work, ball handling and shot form. I highly recommend.

If you're looking for shooting accuracy, see if you can find out where Ian Stacker is coaching

Think Stacks spends most of his time these days looking after the academy at Templestowe College

Correct, Stacks is coaching at Templestowe College and an excellent teacher of the game.

Honestly, for an U14 rep kid, just shoot mate. Get a ball, find a rim, get a rebounder and just catch and shoot, catch and shoot. There are enough videos online to teach you correct footwork and action. So get the action right (video yourself then compare to those online) then repeat that action over and over again. And work on your off hand too.

There's a great Klay Thompson one talking about the "reverse waterfall", which I love.

https://youtu.be/i0FQd7v8efI?si=8ezsUAWD1BQSm7Kt - this is Goorj with first bit talking about teaching juniors how to shoot properly.

No "best" coach is going to make a kid the best. The kid can become great with great work ethic.

If dissappointing in a way as a lot of these coaches are only out to make money and do not really teach the kids proper skills.

Working on technique and other skills are vital but when you see some of the players who attend these sessions and you watch them and think what were they taught because it does not show.
