Harry’s back

Looks like Harry Froling signing for Hawks following Olbrich headed to NBA.

Never been a huge fan of Harry but what a great achievement to come back from that horrendous injury.

Agreed, always was a lazy player imo, but yes good luck to him, he's got big shoes to fill with Olbrich getting drafted.

Good result for Harry. Not so much for the hawks if he's going to be starting centre for the first half of the season. Their options were limited though I guess

Good luck to him but I don't know how he got a 2 year deal out of the Hawks given the shape he's currently in. Maybe a 1 year deal to see if he gets the weight off and is serious about being a pro? He never was the first time around.

Hasn't played for the tigers in the last few weeks as well, maybe working out with the hawks.

Good stats, certainly in nz, tough competition but some team still didn't have there imports in and improved a lot since, part the reason it’s so congested trying to play finals.

Piss weak comp, semi-pro and an NBL scrub in Grida leads the NZ league in scoring.

NZNBL is very much not 'piss weak'

Piss weak may be going too far but if it's true that Dan Grida is leading PPG and a couple of seasons ago Rob Lowe was Defensive player of the year.

Questions should be asked of whether it is a strong league.

I actually watched an NZNBL game last year when I was on the South Island, the pub was playing it and people were watching.

I thought the comp looked good but that was only one game.

It's far stronger than any of the nbl1 comps, it has some quality players, certainly not as strong as nbl. Calling Grida a scrub is wrong and unnecessary, he’s had lot injuries to get over and is probably just getting back to what he promised as a junior, he’s also playing a lot minutes and is their main man so obviously he get a lot more shots than he would in the nbl, so obviously he scores more.

Called it about Froling getting another chance. Will be interesting to see how Tatum develops him, a players coach and seems to tell it as it is. If Harry stuffs around and doesn't work hard as he's done in the past, Tatum will get on him, but he'll also get the best out of him.
I'd expect them to get a really good import big and just see what Harry can do off the bench.
Those numbers in both leagues are pretty decent and you can't coach size.
As for standard of NZ, it's never going to be mentioned in the best league arguments, but in terms of resources it'd be better than a lot of higher paying Asian leagues. And Grida would be one of those 100% effort guys that'll compete every second. Wouldn't surprise me if he does get a bigger role this season with the Hawks departures.
And the top teams would probably beat a lot of high profile college teams, yet college is so overrated compared to professional leagues where there's actually men playing not boys.

Back playing for tigers tonight, only 12 minutes. Tigers got hammered, Ayre is in real good form.
