Rumour - Mitch Creek to sign with Cairns
Rumour we keep hearing up here in FNQ, from very credible sources. Will be huge for the club!

Massive if legit. They must be opening the purse strings.

This is huge. Gilligan's is already lit but imagine throwing Creeky in amongst all of those backpackers.

Taipans have a history of bringing back ageing power forwards from overseas , Loughton and Cattalini were probably both around the same as when signed by the Taipans . at least the the coach will have someone to talk tattoo's with . Taipans sure seem like a kid in a candy store with money to spend but getting ignored by the lady behind the counter . They are publicly saying they are spending big this year so someone will get paid for sure .

Are the Isiaiah Thomas to Cairns rumours legit?

Thomas was approached, but won't be coming according to Troy Stone.

Louhgton was only 27 when he arrived at the Taipans, so hardly ageing.
Cattalini was roughly mid-30's and Creek would be pretty similar at a guess.

Apparently some sponsors have thrown in some extra cash to help get 3 good quality imports and an Australian marquee (if possible). I'm not totally sold on the marquee if it is Creek. Has he even been playing much recently ?

Creek played in Turkey last season and has been playing in Canada during the offseason.

I guess that's a positive. The Taipans initially went after Pinder and say they were close to signing him however the big money in Japan won out in the end.

Creek took a div two side from last to first and got promoted to div one in Turkey. His stats were remarkable. The Nbl will be tougher but you would think he's a great option and yes is in Canada playing now.

I heard Rob Edwards is a chance to re-sign with Cairns since Forde is coming back, they got along well and Edwards felt like Forde pushed all the right buttons to get him motivated to be his best. Anyone else hearing anything similar?

Edwards didn't last long in China before he was cut and his team there replaced him with Trez.

Wortho wasn't from overseas but was another high-level Aussie PF who played with Cairns.

He wasn't high level anymore at that stage.

Correct Perthworld- and we don't know whether Creek will be either. He's 33 and last season played in Div 2 Turkey and Canada.

I forgot how long Loughton played for the Taipans .
Worthington's wife was from Cairns I believe so that was the lure for him
not Sydney Kings Worthington when he got here. Could we put Cameron Tragardh in the same category ?
I wonder who these sponsors are who are prepared to sponsor anonymously ?
