Giddeys contract

Kuminga and Giddey are really the only domino's to fall this offseason. Kuminga seems to have more interest but would have to be a sign and trade you'd assume since only the Nets would have the room to offer him a decent restricted offer.
But it seems the Bulls have the better bargaining power knowing no other teams are willing to offer the $30 million annually he wants, more around the $20-25 range.
If he signs the $11 million qualifying contract and bets on himself then it could be a big risk. He came on strong in the second half of the season, but if his shooting and defence desert him then he could have missed out a lot of guaranteed money.
A year or so ago the Spurs would have made perfect sense but now they've got a sudden logjam at PG. What other teams would make sense for him if he becomes unrestricted and have the need and cap room to sign him?
Maybe the best bet would to accept an offer around the $22 million per year given his past struggles in certain areas and lock himself up for the short term.
And god knows what the Bulls are thinking in terms of the future, plenty of rumours about a few trades, but do they want to bottom out or continue to be the Leastern conference playin team forever.

OKC probably don't even remember who is he now. The had no need for him only one season ago. His new team Chicago is rightfully hesitant to offer him what he thinks his worth. No other teams are showing interest. Is Giddey rating himself too highly? And does he have the wrong mentality at this stage of his career? 20 million is not a low ball offer for someone not proven he can actually lead a team to anything meaningful. I think it's because despite being extremely talented and able to put up numbers, many also see through Giddey a bit. He has become very Americanised, IMO.

$20M would be low for a starting PG.

Lamolo Ball makes $40m a year and hasnt shown he can lead a team to anything approaching success. Immanuel Quickley $33m, similarly hasn't done anything.

I think around 25-30m per year would be about right. He'll probably end up getting 25m per.

It's not a matter about him as a player it's about the money available and there isn't any based on teams spending that occured already. Next year there will be.

$30 mil is about right but the Bulls are aware no one is going to pay him what he wants and will be happy to save money.

Definitely get that, but NBA teams don't want to be seen as screwing over their players, so even though they have all the leverage, they'll usually find the "fair" price.

Yeah you would have thought that the Jazz would have made a move if they were going to by now.

After using the July 7 trades to clear the required cap space the army of Bulls YouTubers and bloggers went bunta expecting Giddey to get an. offer from the Jazz but it's all gone surprisingly quiet.

No-one including the Bulls front office seem to know what to do. Would have them in bottom 3 off the top of my head in worst organisations with Sacramento and Phoenix, the last because Microwave Mat Ishbia blew up everything chasing a title. Honorable mentions to New Orleans and Dallas with the Doncic trade.
At least with Washington, Charlotte and Utah, they're tanking and accumulating assets along the way. Chicago are just mired in the play in spot year after year. And then they get control of their first rounder, finish on a hot streak making it a low lottery selection and losing the coint flip that led to to number one pick.
And the Bulls know they own all the cards, no-one can afford to sign him to an outlandish offer sheet so they'll hover around the $20 million and see what happens if he just signs the qualifying offer. But even though he had a hot finish, all it takes is an injury or a club not checking IDs for him to fumble the bag.
Themes there's Giddeys skill set, the antithesis of 3 and D. Doubt he'll ever make an all star team unless they go USA vs the World, so are you willing to invest $30 million on a modern day Fat Lever, do a bit of everything except two of the most important categories.
Should just take the best offer the Bulls finally make with a few incentives and player options. Bulls might finally hit the reset button and have a fire sale and get whatever assets they can with the roster, Buzelis would likely be the only untouchable they have. Maybe someone like Minnesota might like an upgrade at PG and rent him for a year, but likely won't give him a big contract and not much they can give anyway.

Can't see him being a good fit in Minny. Would have the same issues be had in OKC. His best bet is a team with a star frontcourt player that just needs a good set up guy.

That's why I and others thought Spurs would have been good previously. Bucks would be perfect post Dame. They just don't have the room unless they can swing a sign and trade.

Long term he could be a good partner for Cooper Flagg but can't see the Mavs naming a move for him.
