Standings-In order MU, 36ers, Hawks, JJ's, Sydney, Taipans, Perth, NZ, SEM and Bullets-Damn its going to be a tough year. I honestly could see anyone of the top 8 being top 6 if not top 4 any other year over the past few seasons. I'm not convinced on SEM or Brisbane however, both too shallow at important positions and some questionable import choices.
MVP: Kendrick Davis
Defensive: Will Magnay
Most Improved: Foxwell, will be given plenty of court time and has improved steadily each season.
Next Generation: Karim Lopez
Sixth Man: Montrezl(if he doesn't pout his way into the starting lineup) or Noi
Coach: Vickerman
Overachievers: MU
Underachievers: Perth
First import cut: one of SEM(not Brown though, fits perfect for what King likes)

This is the first year I won't be doing any championship betting or bothering too much with predictions

Firstly cos I'd rather spend excess brain capacity on AFL finals and Eurobasket. And even NRL finals.

Secondly because it feels like the most unpredictable season I can remember.

At a basic level, I think teams with depth will succeed. Almost all teams have great starting 5s this year but a few have weaker benches.

So I'd be backing Sydney, MU, Perth, Illawarra

Adelaide look insanely talented and could improve with an import spot up their sleeve

Teams with weaker benches won't be as resilient if injuries hit, or if their new imports aren't as great, like Brisbane, Cairns, NZ.

SEM I'm not sure. They're from left-field. Imports from Europe. Not sure they have the firepower but optimistic King will have them firing with their defensive length

Standings: Adelaide, Sydney, Illawarra, Perth, Tasmania, Melbourne, Brisbane, SE Melbourne, Cairns, New Zealand

MVP: Bryce Cotton
DPOTY: Will Magnay
Most Improved: Flynn Cameron
Next Gen: Karim Lopez
Sixth Man: Isaac Humphries*
Coach: Andrew Bogut^

* Humphries to begin season in starting lineup but once to sulking starts replaced by Trez with Humphries to realise he needs to pull his finger out to save his career.

^ If the Kings get off to a slow start and/or KD and Goorj are fighting look to Bogut to take over and steady the ship.

First import cut? Maldonado at SEM he doesn't look up to it and the initial plan was for him to be the starting PG. I don't think they can afford to start Foxwell so look to them to bring in a replacement for Maldonado early. I can't see VB getting cut as a Euro he likely would've come with sort of no-cut handshake type agreement.

Standings - be close

1. Tasmania (like imports only question is Magnay and Bannan health)
2. Adelaide (have talent and third import up sleeve)
3. Melbourne (need more out of Doyle than last couple of years though)
4. Perth (will still be in mix. JLA is best Aussie they've had for awhile)
5. Sydney (Should be a better than last year not sure about big depth though)
6. Cairns (Not sure about guard depth but McVeigh can get them far as long as imports okay)
7. Illawarra (Froling a big out. Hickey is good but not sure he’s your best local)
8. South East Melbourne (not sure about imports but good coach)
9. New Zealand (will win games with PJC but not sure better than last year)
10. Brisbane (have talent and firepower but question coach and defence)

MVP: Cotton

DPOY: McGee or Ili

Most Improved: Flynn Cameron

Next Generation: Reyne Smith or Karim Lopez

Sixth Man: Noi

Coach: Scott Roth

Overachievers: Tasmania or Melbourne

Underachievers: Brisbane

First import cut: Maldonado
