U20 / YL try-outs

Why do associations run try-outs for u20 and YL in Oct knowing that many / most the kids have year 12 exams? Basketball is a long season - at this time of year just let them focus on the books. Tell me I am wrong and why? You can't.

Maybe because tryouts are only a few hours and teams are usually sorted beforehand anyway. It's not like tryouts are a week long camp, be good to blow off a bit of steam and clear the head.
Why not ban them from having jobs or even a partial social life. Or do they have to be locked in their rooms throughout exams?
Stupid comment. I'm sure in previous years lives have been ruined by a couple of hours break playing basketball.

Yup I have to agree with The Phantom on this one...a couple of hours blowing off some steam in between study sessions and exams isn't a bad thing
