Boomers big men - a potential weak point or underrated?
The Boomers big man stocks have been a question mark for me ever since Baynes left the team. But Rocco's performance in his first Summer League game yesterday, while modest, gives me some hope that he might develop well. He still looks like a baby giraffe but he was able to play solid D against Jokic, scoop offensive rebounds and put up 9 points in 13 minutes.
Also looking at someone like Oscar Cluff, who looks like a 6'11 Nick Kay. A very smart player, and physically solid, albeit not particularly athletic. There is some level of NBA interest around him.
Then there's Alex Condon who looks set to make the NBA, a younger and quicker Landale seems to be his mould.
So while there is no Wemby coming through (although I heard something about a 7'6 Sudanese Australian kid who may be ready a bit more down the track), there is the potential for some creation and rim protection come 2027/28 majors.
What are you thinking about this?
