Ally Wilson to essentially miss the first month of the WNBL season with a knee issue, which will leave Lynx vulnerable early...

Yeah, missing her on top of losing Sowah is a killer

Will say, I think the imports this year are pretty good. Seem to have universally gone after the fresh out of college types and/or WNBA youngsters and could see most of them making the All-Star 5 and it wouldnt be a surprise, even one of the Adelaide duo.

Dickey, Morris and Cox really only "journey-ballers" and one has won the league, one DPOY and they're all returnees.

My predictions that'll be out of date in a week

TL;DR: TOW, BEN > GEE, SYD, CAN, STH, PER > ADE

1. Townsville - same tier as Spirit imo, could be even by themselves, they consistentally always have one of the most professional rosters. Olsen plus Sowah is daunting if they are having an on night and they're a deep team on bench too.

2. Bendigo - reigning champs, back them in for another good season. No Whitcomb or Burton (or Wilson!) but Borlase and McConnell instead will have them looking strong.

3. Geelong - I like their imports, Shelley could star and will improve again when Heal is fit, finals has to be the expectation assuming no more injuries.

4. Sydney - last season didn't go as expected for them despite the hype, not sure about this time round but they should win more than they lose with their starting five.

5. Canberra - Better team than last season imo but I wonder about the bench, could make finals if everything goes right in what will likely be Melbourne's last season before Europe.

6. Southside - Too much unknown with their team to be sure that they could make top four but at least seems be a lot more competitive than last year with George to compliment Rocci's yelling at the refs.

7. Perth - Needs everything clicking to be in contention and roster looks weirder than last season and not how Petrik usually works (twin centers?). Not sure if everyone is healthy too. Hope to be proven wrong.

8. Adelaide - hopefully we see an improvement, imports look good, but another tough season incoming until proven otherwise.

Ah, missed Peters replacing Dickey (ACL), same profile of player though.

I'm going along to the opener tomorrow. Hopefully it's a good crowd and a good game.
