Just been announced Mason Jones has been released by the Wildcats after 5 games. Sort of expected but not performing.

If I were SEM I'd be looking at him. I think he's capable of more at this level.

For Perth, surely they grab an import PG.

This is entirely on the Wildcats front office. Spent an eternity chasing the wrong guy and the brought him in a couple of days before the season started. How Teflon Mills keeps his job is beyond me.

It's been increasingly more obvious that G-League Mason Jones is not the guy who stepped off the plane in Perth. He's not crap by any stretch but not fit for purpose

Mason looked too slow for the NBL and a bit timid. Compare him to Andrews at Cairns or TJ Starks at JJs who showed some courage and attacking instinct on their first games in the NBL.

Mason didn't score enough, create any assists or defensively stop anyone. Unfortunately a victim of not being the right type of player for what the cats needed. (the coach also does not seem to run any plays so you need creative shooters and shot makers)

Cats need a Euro experienced player. Most of the veteran G-League guys don't seem to translate over here well.

After initially knocking back Patrick Beverley to sign Jones perhaps giving Pat Bev a call might be in order.

Lauchy Reid saying there is no replacement in the works so it may be next 3 games with no 3rd import. Front office should go as well.

Jones was on big money for a first year import wasn't he? Couldn’t justify it at current production so probably had to make the move to save the money.

Wildcats should be signing Steven Ashworth. A gem of a player and around 25 years old.

Somehow, through all the drama of the last few years, it always seems to be either Rillie's name getting mentioned, or Arena/Hutchison, and never the guy who has been the GM throughout the whole time.
So yeah - good question. At what point does he at least get some scrutiny??

SEG don't care, they've locked a naive Mark Arena into a management contract where he pays them in exchange for epic failure.

Even the most optimistic cats fan could see this coming. Mills in desperation had to secure a signature with only two weeks before the season opener. Im not sure how he couldn't see if Jones was the right fit or not if that indeed is the reason they released him.

I keep harping on it but what an epic face palm not waiting a week or two for BC to test his value in the market before parting ways. What mind blowing stupidity it was not allowing a club legend and the goat a little more time and we wouldn't be in this position now.

Sharing is caring - having BC on your team rather than for the opposition killing you, is next level amazement and happiness
