NBL - EPSN on Foxtel - resolution

Have any of you this season experienced a lower picture quality when watching NBL games on EPSN via Foxtel ? Seems to me that the resolution is not as high as last year.

Its interesting to hear what the quality is like on the Foxtel side. Out of interest is that via the iQ5 / internet streamed? Or Satellite?

I've been on a mission to find the best quality stream. I've tried:

- Disney+
- Kayo
- Fetch (via a 3rd gen Mighty Box)
- Youtube

I would say the order of best to worse quality goes:

Kayo -> Disney -> Youtube -> Fetch

First 2 are on my AppleTV and YouTube via the TVs app.

I started with Disney+ back in the Blitz round, as the price made sense for me. But it would consistently crash when skipping ahead. Quality is likely the same as Kayo.

Got Fetch as I read that the live stream was better. Wasn't my experience at all, even more motion artifacts than the rest.

The same theme is across all platforms- good quality on the closeups, then it switches to the wide camera and the bitrate is rubbish. It has slowly gotten better on Kayo but it will never be great.

The image quality on Prime for the Pelican's games is where they all should be at.

Next chance for quality is NBL via League Pass. *If* it plays nicely on your device routing through a VPN.

Comparing games I'd recorded off Foxtel in past years to Kayo streams, the drop in quality is very obvious. And Foxtel wasn't great to begin with. Stopped bothering with Foxtel once they became a streaming service, because if it's just going to be streamed anyway then I might as well go the cheaper Kayo option.

Switched to D+ a week or so ago because most WNBL games will be D+ exclusives*, and the quality seems similar, but different. It seems like pretty much the same level of actual detail, but with some artificial sharpening added on over the top which could make it look better or worse depending on what you're more sensitive to.

*They're also on 9Now, but the quality on there is absolutely abysmal.
