Seasons getting real. Hawks a totally different team now.
That was hard to watch though.
With reffing like that, McGee is close enough to unstoppable and the Hawks will rarely be beaten.
McGee gets consistently sent to the line for soft contact.
Then mid 2nd quarter he got away with two straight offensive fouls against Edwards (the 2nd one the ref indicated a flop. The contact by McGee was clearly there though, Edwards probably exaggerated it after the ref missed the elbow he copped on the previous play).
Then, a minute left 1st half, Blanchfield grabs an O-board and takes 4 steps. No travel. 2 seconds later, call goes against Krslovic, and McGee takes his umpteenth trip to the foul line. Replay shows Krslovic had hands only on ball. 3rd foul.
I like watching Krslovic's defense, he's fundamentally sound, but they gave all the calls to the vastly athletically superior McGee.
Early 2nd half, a soft call on Edwards against McGee at the high post results in his 4th.
The next possession, Walker makes a drive against Harvey, with no-one else in vicinity. One of the clearest fouls all game. No call.
Early 4th quarter, McGee crashes over Edward's back on a rebound for the putback. You'd think, after already calling 4 each on Edwards and Krslovic, the refs might call that....No sir.
It was all a bit comical.
Just engrave the MVP right now if you're gonna call it like tonight. Too bad Bryce, you'll miss going one closer to the GOAT.
Still, we're seeing the chunks in United's armour. They're vulnerable against bigger, athletic teams who attack the hoop relentlessly and defend the perimeter well at the other end. And poor outside shooting was a problem again.
Hawks shot well from outside too, and often they were left open due to screens from McGee, or United's D worrying about him. With Froling coming back, forget their W/L record, they'll be thereabouts when it matters.
