woodville / west junior girls

Given the success of suns and tigers, i pose a purely discussional question of -

"should woodville and west junior female programs amalgamate"

My reasons - these clubs have only 10 girl's teams each - combined they are only just keeping up with the larger clubs.
They should join - just whilst they go thru a lean patch - especially at west. i have heard west will not field div 1 u12 or 14 girls.
Woodville last season did not run an u18 team.
Woodville are on the mend - but not a lot number wise.

Should their numbers improve they can reform back at their home clubs, if a player joins the amalgamated team - they make a choice where they want to go.

Pooling coaching resouces would be a bonus and they could traing 1 session at each club's venues.

It would take a lot of goodwill from both clubs to work properly - and it is not a long term strategy - just enough to get the north western clubs thru a lean patch. - i know kids will radiate towards a strong, successful group - rather than a struggling group.

It would be hard to amalgamate just the girl's side and keep the boys separate. Would you propose that two clubs in the metro area amalgamate and have a club like the Barossa or even Victor Harbor join the competition?

The SANFL had to reduce the teams from 10 to 9, so can our district competition survive with 10 clubs?

Any thoughts?

certainly worth considering - even if they only played summer or winter - not all year round.

I imagine most barossa kids are under central's colours - or they are stiched up with other clubs.

Victor Harbour - ? I have no idea - I know Willunga tried to run some Div 3 junior teams - but speaking to a knowledgable person from that area - they were happy with social and no travelling.
Mavs have some juniors from that way along with southern.

Whilst everyone is happy it will stay the way it is some clubs will be strong - others not so.

thanks for the inside info oogie - that's the input i seek - I am connected with another club and purely started this discussion as an outsider looking in.

Woodville look like surpassing west in the girls over the next few years - after u16s the west girls look a bit down in numbers
