BASA Development Officers

What does everyone think of them?

Do you think they are doing a good job?

I've heard mixed reports. I've spoken to someone at a school they've visited and they've thought they were fantastic, but then people at district clubs haven't had the same glowing comments.

Thoughts?

Not enough of them want to be Coaches themsleves, so straight away the passion and motivation isnt where it needs to be for the role. I think the system would be better if Clubs had there own designated DO's, then clubs can structure these people to help assist the clubs in developing youth. Because right now with the way the structure is the BASA DO's are more participation officers than anything, not their fault just the direction of it.

Although BSA development officers are great in concept, they surely dont have the ability to filter the kids through to clubs directly (As was the initial purpose of them). I believe as early as day 1, the hierachy, although different admittedly from nowadays, has always appointed the wrong people. Anybody within the know appreciates this.
